  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • Zest of 1 lemon
Lemon Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp lemon juice
  • Yellow food coloring (optional)
Elderflower Topping:
  • Elderflower syrup
  • Candied lemon slices
  • Elderflower blossoms (edible)


  1. Dough Preparation:
    • Mix flour, sugar, salt, yeast, and lemon zest in a large bowl.
    • Whisk together eggs and milk in another bowl.
    • Combine wet ingredients with the dry, mixing to form a dough.
    • Knead in softened butter until smooth.
    • Let the dough rise until doubled, about 1-2 hours.
  2. Shaping and Second Rise:
    • Roll out the dough and cut into doughnut shapes.
    • Place on a baking sheet, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  3. Baking:
    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
